ABOUT
About Better Call HR
Oklahoma is built on small and medium-sized businesses. We love businesses that are new, established, and growing. We have a solution for any phase of your development.
Two shapes this usually takes.
If you're a small operation of around 10 to 20 people, you probably need a handbook, updated policies, help getting your I-9s in order, job descriptions built or refined, and maybe some manager training. Our firm delivers fully scalable solutions to meet every need you have as a business owner. We handle the project, deliver what you need, and stay available for whatever comes up next. Small doesn't mean short-term.
If you're a growing business with 20 to 150+ people and no dedicated HR team, you're probably wearing every hat yourself or leaning on an office manager to handle compliance. The risks are bigger, and the work is ongoing. Wrongful termination claims, wage and hour audits, benefits missteps, outdated handbooks. And a real one right now: the field is moving from equity and equality toward inclusion and diversity, which changes how you should be thinking about hiring, training, and manager conversations in your business. It's confusing for owners, and getting it wrong exposes you either legally or reputationally, sometimes both.
You need someone who knows what they're doing. You don't need someone full-time. And you shouldn't be paying $80K plus benefits to solve a part-time problem.
You rule the world. We'll handle the details.

Who is Damon
I'm Damon Hayes-Milligan. I run and own Better Call HR out of central Oklahoma.
My career and industry experience are diverse. The uniqueness of experience spans the entirety of my professional career. Odds are, you are in a field that I have experience in assisting. Each industry has its own compliance headaches and its own culture, and consultants who work from a template miss what's actually going on.
Credentials matter in this profession, so a quick note on mine. I hold PHR and SHRM-CP certifications, along with a BBA in HR Management from UCO, an M.S. in Organizational Leadership, and an M.A. in Organizational Development and Change. I'm currently completing my PhD in Organizational Development at Fielding Graduate University. I'm a former member of the Forbes HR Council, and I previously served on the boards of the Oklahoma State HR Council and the Oklahoma City HR Society. When you work with Better Call HR, you're working with a credentialed HR practitioner who has spent his career building real expertise. Not a call-center rep working from scripts.
Outside of work, I'm a parent of twins, a running coach, and working toward a 50-state half-marathon challenge. I live and run here, and I care about this community as much as the business owners I work with do.
What I do is walk through your operation, find what's working and what's exposing you, and give you honest recommendations you can act on. I'm an HR person first and an entrepreneur second. What I'm good at is telling you the truth about what I see, whether you hire me for the follow-up work or not.
